In January, Isabella established a Nature Club (this preceded the Girls' Club) and it even had its own secret code--67742. I'm not sure what the code was for--and the club has since been forgotten-- so I don't think there is harm in sharing the code here. The first official activity of the Nature Club was to go bird watching. She assigned me the job of drawing and recording our findings.
The best place to bird watch is in the vineyard, so we made our way out to the big oak tree and sat down underneath it. We saw robins, finches and a hawk. We then made our way out the the owl box in the middle of the vineyard where we discovered the skull of a mole or possibly a rat. Who knows? But it was all very Nature-y.
I thought it would be awesome, as we wrap up our last few months in this paradise, to make the Nature Club outings, a daily event. I want to soak up as much of this beauty as we possibly can before we move. But that ambition only lasted a few days, because everyone got sick in January.
We managed to squeeze in a few outings here and there. On another day we picked wildflowers in the vineyard.
This girl is a Napa native and has only ever known living on a ranch, on the edge of a vineyard. It's been our own piece of heaven on earth. It will be missed.
